Research at the Microbiology division is focussing on different aspects of molecular microbiology, including biotechnology, host-pathogen-interaction and synthetic biology. Virulence factors and the interaction of pathogenic corynebacteria with host cells and invertebrate model systems are studied by different groups. Other topics include the investigation of regulatory and metabolic networks in Gram-positive bacteria, molecular communications systems and research focussing on the analysis and prevention of microbial growth on abiotic and biotic surfaces.
