Protein secretion and loading of extracellular vesicles (Gerald Seidel)
Extracellular vesicles can be formed from the cytoplasmic membrane or outermembrane structures in case of disruption of cells or from the outer membrane in frame of an active process. A wide variety of functions is discussed, which are highly dependent on the content of these vesicles.
The project is focussing on the targeted loading of outer membrane vesicles exploiting different bacterial protein secretion pathways and their respective signal sequences.
